Carlton Cole has joined Scottish club Celtic on a free transfer, having left West Ham United in the summer.

West Ham United have sent Carlton Cole a congratulatory message on social networking site Twitter after he signed a contract with Celtic.

The former Chelsea and West Ham United striker has put pen to paper on a deal with the Bhoys which will keep him at Celtic Park until the summer of June 2017.

The 32-year-old has joined the Scottish Premiership giants on a free transfer after leaving Premier League outfit West Ham at the end of the 2014-15 season.

West Ham duo Elliot Lee and Matt Jarvis (currently on loan at Norwich City) have also sent congratulatory messages to Cole on Twitter.

Cole started his professional career at London giants Chelsea, but he failed to play regularly for the first team.

The 32-year-old joined West Ham from Chelsea in the summer of 2006 and played for them until the end of the 2014-15 season.

The Englishman scored 68 goals in 293 appearances for West Ham, including one in the 2011-12 Championship playoff final against Blackpool at London’s Wembley Stadium.
