Shrewsbury Town have agreed a deal to sign former Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City defender Anthony Gerrard, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Gerrard, who is a free agent, has been training with the League One club for the last couple of weeks and he has done enough to be offered a deal at Greenhous Meadow.
The 29-year-old is set to sign non-contract terms at Shrewsbury as he looks to get back to playing having not featured since last season.
Gerrard has been without a club since seeing out his contract at Huddersfield this summer.
The central defender had attracted the interest of a number of clubs, linking up with Southend United last month for a training stint.
Gerrard came to the fore at Walsall, making over 150 appearances for the club before moving to Cardiff in the summer of 2009.
After three years with the Bluebirds, Gerrard joined Huddersfield in 2012, but after being a regular in the side in his first two seasons at the club, found himself out of favour last term.
