Miller has had to wait patiently for chances this season but he still has five goals in 12 matches, and after spending the recent match against Livingstone as an unused substitute he saw first-hand the challenges dished out to Tottenham Hotspur loanee Nathan Oduwa.
The Spurs teenager has shone since temporarily moving to Rangers and he has four assists in 14 appearances to date, but he was on the wrong end of some very poor challenges earlier this week and he did not reappear for the second half.
One particular challenge from Livingstone’s Kieran Gibbons could easily have been a red card and Oduwa was lucky to escape serious injury, but Miller feels players with the Tottenham youngster’s ability will always attract rash challenges.
“Nathan Oduwa isn’t the first player and won’t be the last to get some harsh treatment for tricks,” the Rangers forward said.
“I wouldn’t say Nathan was targeted. There was no malice in the challenge, the boy just mistimed it. He has quick feet and tons of ability and he will draw players into challenges like that.”
The Tottenham teenager tried a rainbow flick in a match against Alloa Athletic earlier in the campaign which drew the ire of his opponents but his Rangers teammate has suggested he will not be trying that one any time soon.
“Nathan hasn’t taught me the rainbow flick yet,” Miller said. “I’d probably pull my hamstring.”
While the Rangers forward is coming to the end of his career the Tottenham youngster is very much at the beginning of his and it will be interesting to see what the rest of the season has in store for the 19-year-old and if Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has him in his first-team plans next season.
