Dougie Freedman makes it clear that Nottingham Forest will not be signing Liam Trotter

The Bolton Wanderers midfielder is not coming to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest have been trying hard in recent times to bring in Liam Trotter from Bolton Wanderers on loan. The club were keen on the former Millwall man in order to add some stability to their midfield.

However, after the recent fixture with Burnley, Nottingham Forest boss made it clear the deal was dead - telling BBC Nottingham:

"Nothing's happening it looks like that is dead that deal. A technical issue once again.

"Very similar to Ben Hamer we unfortunately cannot get a deal over the line so it is dead. Not happening."

Despite that the rumours rumbled on. It was believed that Forest had tried to resurrect the deal earlier in the week despite the comments from the Scot .

However, speaking in his official press conference earlier today the Forest boss could not have been clearer - Trotter will not be joining Nottingham Forest on loan any time soon.

As reported by BBC Nottingham the Forest boss said the deal was gone and no resurrection was likely.

Forest already have five players on loan but Jonathan Williams and Kyle Ebecilio are struggling with first-team fitness, Michael Mancienne is injured and now Henri Lansbury has picked up a suspension.

It was hoped Trotter would be providing cover in the midfield position but Forest will need to look internally or elsewhere.
