Barcelona-owned Alex Song will miss West Ham’s Premier League game against Chelsea on Saturday.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has explained on social networking site Twitter the injury situation of Alex Song.

The 28-year-old former Cameroon international midfielder has yet to feature for West Ham this season due to injuries, having joined the Premier League outfit on a season-long loan deal from Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

It seems that Song has regained his fitness, but the West Ham medical team do not want to risk him against Chelsea this weekend.

West Ham will face their London rivals at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Slaven Bilic’s side will head into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park.

The Hammers are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from nine matches, just four points behind leaders Manchester City.
