Report: Aston Villa re-open talks with Emmanuel Adebayor

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker could be set for a quick return to the Premier League.

Aston Villa have held discussions with Emmanuel Adebayor over a potential move, according to TMW.

The former Spurs striker has been without a club since being released by the Lilywhites last month and is currently assessing his options.

Galatasaray is another possible destination and TMW’s report quotes the Turkish club’s president, Cenk Ergun, as confirming their interest.

“We have been offered Adebayor and we are thinking about it,” he said.

Tim Sherwood managed to get the best out of the 31-year old during his spell as Spurs boss and as such, is keen for a reunion at Villa Park.

The striker was thought to be close to completing a switch this summer – having essentially agreed terms and posed with a Villa shirt – before pulling the plug on the deal at the last minute because a sign from God hadn’t appeared, as reported by the Telegraph.

The Villains may well have refocused their attentions on the powerful frontman as they look to turn around their dismal start to the season, but whether Adebayor is the solution or not, remains to be seen.
