The Magpies are currently perched inside the relegation zone, having won just one of their opening nine Premier League fixtures.
And Perez has stressed that there will be no easy route to safety for his teammates this season, due to their poor start.
"We work hard for each other, that’s the key if we want to do well this season," he said. “That’s the way we have to play.
“It’s how things have been in training so now we want to do it on the pitch.”
Optimism levels have increased at Newcastle, as they were able to win their last match 6-2 against Norwich City.
In that match, Steve McClaren's side showcased the quality that they have in their squad, and they will be looking to carry that attacking threat into their future fixtures.
Newcastle's next match comes against Sunderland at the weekend, and the derby contest looks like it could be crucial to both side's seasons.
Both Newcastle and Sunderland are currently lodged inside the relegation zone, but if the Magpies are able to pick up a victory on Sunday, they could move up as high as 16th, while ramping up the pressure on their local rivals in the process.
