Manchester City talent Jason Denayer has £30m release clause, says Galatasaray director

The Belgian international impressed on loan at Celtic last season.

Last season saw Manchester City's young Belgian defender shine on loan at Celtic. It saw him make a breakthrough into the Belgian national team and get tipped for potentially great things at Celtic Park.

However the club signed Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia and therefore first-team opportunities for the young Belgian were likely to be at a minimum in Manchester.

Therefore they decided to send him out on loan again with Turkish outfit Galatasaray winning the battle for his signature.

Now the club's sporting director has been speaking about the Belgian and is clearly impressed by what he has seen from the 20-year-old.

He also confirmed that Gala have an agreement to keep him for a further season should they wish. Cenk Ergun is quoted by Bugun as stating:

"We have put a clause in the rental contract. We want Jason from City and in our loan agreement we have the right to extend for a year under the same conditions.

"This is a priority. The three parties have to consent.

"A transfer is not easy. Jason has a £ 30 million termination fee in the contract with City. In the current circumstances it does not seem possible for us to meet. But we will see next year."

Denayer's release clause at City is certainly the biggest indicator that the club do see him as a future first-team player at The Etihad.

With Martin Demichelis not getting any younger, Vincent Kompany approaching 30 and question marks still surrounding the suitability of Eliaquim Mangala and Otamendi to English football there is no doubt that Denayer has every chance of becoming a City regular in the years to come after his time in Turkey.
