Lukasz Fabianski comments on Swansea City team spirit and capabilities after difficult run

The Swans are enduring a poor run of form that hasn't seen them register a victory since August.

Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has said it would be wrong to read anything into dressing room spirit at the club despite their poor run which hasn't seen them pick up a win since the end of August.

The Swans haven't won in their last six games though there have been difficult fixtures which have ended in draws against Everton and Tottenham at home but the promising looking start they made to this campaign has stalled somewhat, which was illustrated in their disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Stoke City on Monday night.

Fabianski is quoted in the South Wales Evening Post, saying: "It's a difficult period but we have to stick together, help the club in the best way possible. We all have one target and that is to perform well for Swansea, for the club and the fans and that is the best way to get over this.

"We know as players we have capabilities to play at a much higher level and we have shown it many times, the spirit is the best expression you can get and we have to show this now.

"It's about getting the result as quickly as we can and getting back on the right track."

Ability is certainly something this side does have, but it was always going to be difficult for the side to back up last season's record points haul in the Premier League this term, and given the reputation they have developed ever since their promotion to the top flight in 2011 of being so difficult to face and taking significant scalps sides are more wary of the threat they carry.

They do have the opportunity to end their poor run of form this weekend when they travel to Aston Villa this weekend, a side that is very much in worse form than Swansea having not registered a league win since the opening day of the season - though Garry Monk's side will have to be aware of any wounded animal aspect there may be to the occasion.

It's still early on in the season and the side have shown glimpses of what they can do, the victory over Manchester United in August a notable reminder. Though the recent run will have been uncomfortable for the side, no-one should get too worried just yet.
