Djimi Traore reacts on Twitter to Emre Can's performance v Rubin Kazan

The well-remembered Liverpool defender has compared him to another famous German.

Former Liverpool defender Djimi Traore - an icon in his own right - feels Emre Can can become the Kop's new favourite German player - comparing him to Dietmar Hamann.

Indeed, Traore seemed impressed with the 21-year-old on Thursday night, as Liverpool produced a flat overall performance against Rubin Kazan in the Europa League but showed signs that Jurgen Klopp can make something of the Reds with time.

And he duly compared Can to Anfield favourite Hamann on Twitter:

Can has always looked promising during his Anfield career but some very questionable displays have let him down at times.

Most of them, however, came in a defensive capacity. And, while the 21-year-old initially impressed in defence, he was soon found out.

What Jurgen Klopp seems to have realised very quickly, unlike Brendan Rodgers, is that Can is better going forward.

Traore's praise aside, though, the youngster still has a long way to go before he can really be compared to Hamann, a very successful Liverpool midfielder during a time where trophies - if not league titles - were regularly won at Anfield.
