Tottenham take on Anderlecht in the Europa League this evening.
Former Arsenal and Celtic forward Charlie Nicholas has been commenting on Tottenham’s Europa League tie with Anderlecht, and he has told Sky Sports that he expects Mauricio Pochettino will name his strongest XI possible against the Belgian giants.
Nicholas said: “I think Mauricio Pochettino will continue with his strongest team and for that reason everybody that is getting fed up with Harry Kane might have to choke on it a little bit as I'm going for him to score first.”
Pochettino does have a fairly strong squad to call upon for the Europa League tie, with Eric Dier back after serving his Premier League suspension at the weekend, whilst Ryan Mason has also travelled with the squad to Belgium.
Nacer Chadli, Tom Carroll, Nabil Bentaleb, Alex Pritchard and Heung-Min Son are all out, but of those listed players, only Chadli and Son could be considered as key first-team starters this season.
Pochettino will be hoping to pick up another three points in the Europa League, after falling to a draw to Monaco last time out, and naming a strong side would be a wise move by the Argentine coach.
However, there is one player who could miss out, and the player that Nicholas believes will score the first goal of the game - Harry Kane.
Kane took a knock in the draw with Liverpool, and although he is not injured, there are many that suspect he will only start from the bench. However, Nicholas believes the 22-year-old will be named in the starting XI, and will break his poor scoring streak that has seen Kane net just once in 12 games this season.
