Bad news for Aston Villa's Callum Robinson if Bristol City bring in another loanee

The loanee is already struggling to make the first-team at Ashton Gate.

One of Aston Villa's more promising prospects is 20-year-old forward Callum Robinson.

The England under-20 international spent last season on loan at Preston North End and this campaign is scheduled to be with Championship newcomers Bristol City until the end of the season.

However things have recently gone slightly downhill for the youngster at Ashton Gate.

The club currently have six loanees at the club and with only five allowed in a matchday Championship squad it has been Robinson missing out.

Now his manager Steve Cotteril is talking about bringing in another.

The Robins are short in central midfield and the gaffer informed the Bristol Post that another loan signing would be made if it was the right option for the club.

He stated:

"If I had another opportunity in a week or two, if I found the right midfield player, then I would take another loan.

"I would do that, because, then I would feel we had a balanced squad.

"But I can only include five on a match-day, so it would not be an ideal situation. I'd have to tell people they are not going to be involved this week."

That would mean Robinson falling even further down the pecking order in the loan players at Bristol City.

Aston Villa meanwhile will want their young talent playing games and not watching from the sidelines, he could be doing that at Villa Park.

As things stand Robinson is likely to remain at Bristol but if another loanee arrives it is hard to see any other scenario different to him returning to Villa - and then finding a new loan destination.
