The new Leeds United gaffer has been talking about team selection.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino recently parted company with former boss Uwe Rosler and some fans of the club feel it is not always the man in the dugout who is calling the shots in terms of team selection.
But Evans did not mince his words when speaking in comments later published on BBC Radio Leeds’ official Twitter account this week.
“The day I don’t pick the team I won’t be the manager of Leeds United,” Evans said. “That’s very simple.”
Rosler’s final match in charge of the club was Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, a result that left Leeds down in 18th position after winning just two of their first 11 games of the campaign.
Evans’ first game in charge is on Wednesday evening against Fulham at Craven Cottage and victory there will be the perfect way to get the fans of his new club on his side from the outset.
After that is another away game against Bolton Wanderers before Leeds return to Elland Road to take on Blackburn Rovers and attempt to finally get their first home win of the season.
