The Gers booked their place in the semi-final after edging a close encounter at Ibrox.
Rangers left it late again last night to secure their progress into the semi-final of the Petrofac Cup with a 1-0 win over Livingston.
Martyn Waghorn’s 90th minute winner on Saturday against Queen of the South snatched all three points for the Gers and it took until the 75th minute to break the deadlock against a stubborn Livingston side last night.
Livi arrived at Ibrox ready to compete and didn’t hold back in their challenges, with Nathan Oduwa suffering in particular, but their quality eventually told with 15 minutes to go.
Nicky Clark made a case for more regular involvement with his excellent low drilled shot from 30 yards finding its way past the despairing Marc McCallum.
Warburton was unhappy with the treatment his players received – as reported by the Daily Record – but he will be pleased by the grit and determination his men have shown in recent games and it’s a mentality which will hold them in good stead for the rest of the season.
The Gers squad were thrilled to take another step towards their first silverware of the season and below is a selection of their responses on Twitter:
