The Liverpool boss has given an injury update ahead of his second match in charge.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his latest press conference with his comments later published on the club’s official website, and they included a positive injury update regarding some key players.
Klopp was without Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren for his first match in charge of the Reds against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend but all three are now back in training and that can only be good news for a side desperate to build up a head of steam.
Firmino has yet to score for his new side but Klopp will know him well from their time in the Bundesliga and the Brazilian international will no doubt be raring to go under his new boss.
Fellow summer signing Benteke has scored two goals in six appearances to date but the key for Klopp is in getting that attacking pair and striker Daniel Sturridge all playing effectively together in the long term.
Speaking ahead of the Europa League game against Rubin Kazan, Klopp told liverpoolfc.com. “We have three players back in training – Benteke, Firmino and Lovren.
“That’s good, not really starting options but for the squad. Yesterday they joined team training and it was okay.”
While Thursday may come too soon, Liverpool then have a vital Premier League clash with Southampton on Sunday where some of their previously side-lined players could come back into contention.
