Arsenal silenced their doubters by beating Bayern Munich 2-0, and former striker Ian Wright wants to see more positivity from fans.
The ex-Gunner told The Sun this week he believed Arsenal would beat Bayern, but seemingly was frustrated his view was not shared by many.
After their impressive win at The Emirates last night, Wright aimed a jab at the celebrating fans who did not join his optimism ahead of the game.
Wright conceded that if the win backfires and Arsenal finish third in their group and qualify for the Europa League instead, he will start hearing moans from fans again.
Loving the wise after the event Arsenal fans! didn't see many of them on my TL predicting a Arsenal win!— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) October 20, 2015
I'll see if they fill my TL up if we have to play on a Thursday night if we finish 3rd.— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) October 20, 2015
Wright may be irritated at a lack of optimism, but not everybody is as naturally positive as he is, and have cause for complaint despite the victory.
Arsenal lost the opening two games of their Champions League campaign, and their win over Bayern just made those losses even more frustrating - particularly the selection gaffes which led to those losses.
If they do fall short, it will be a failure of their own making, and they need a result away at Bayern Munich to keep them on track for a top two spot.
