Aston Villa monitoring Scottish market as Tim Sherwood fights for his future

Tim Sherwood Press Conference Smiling 12/02/2014

HITC Sport understands that Aberdeen's Derek McInnes and Rangers boss Mark Warburton are on Villa's radar.

Aston Villa are looking to Scotland for potential replacements for Tim Sherwood, with Derek McInnes and Mark Warburton both on their radar, HITC Sport understands.

David Moyes is widely reported to be at the top of Villa’s list, but HITC Sport understands that the highly-rated duo of McInnes and Warburton are also being closely monitored.

McInnes has led Aberdeen through an impressive start to the new season, and although their form has dipped in recent weeks – their progress on a tight budget has impressed a number of clubs south of the border.

Former West Bromwich Albion boss McInnes still has strong ties in the Midlands, and Villa are understood to be very impressed with the ex-Scotland international.

Likewise, they have also taken a keen interest in how Warburton has reshaped things at Rangers, as they are now firm favourites to go up from the Scottish Championship.

Warburton is already very highly thought of following his spell at Brentford, and was tipped for a Premier League role before accepting the deal at Ibrox.

Sherwood is coming under increasing pressure, but while Villa are looking at options, they are set to give him a couple of games to try and turn things around.

With Moyes also on their list, it does seem time is running out for the former Tottenham Hotspur coach.
