The Gunners emerged victorious at the Emirates last night.
The Gunners lost their opening two group games against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos, leaving them the unenviable task of needing a win against the German giants.
Pep Guardiola’s men predictably dominated possession and the Gunners had Petr Cech to thank for keeping their clean sheet intact on several occasions.
Arsenal always remained a threat on the break however, with the pace of Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez causing real problems for the Bayern backline.
Manuel Neuer proved a seemingly impossible obstacle to get past when the Gunners did threaten however - with his save to deny Walcott’s header in the first-half a contender for save of the season – but his heroics turned to embarrassment over his part in Arsenal’s first goal.
The German international came for a free-kick floated in from the right but grasped nothing but thin air, leaving Oliver Giroud to bundle the ball over the line.
Mesut Ozil sealed the three points in stoppage time after fantastic work from Hector Bellerin on the break and the Gunners will now be confident of progression into the knockout stages.
The Arsenal players were predictably delighted with their win and took to Twitter to share their joy:
Fantastic result for us tonight, we worked so hard for it. Gutted to have to come off but was buzzing watching the lads at the end #AFC— Aaron Ramsey (@aaronramsey) October 20, 2015
