Song has not yet played for the Hammers this season after re-joining the side on loan from Barcelona over the summer, and he has told the official club website that he cannot wait to get back to action due to the quality of football being played.
When asked if he is excited to be part of such a stylish West Ham side, Song replied: “Yes, I am! I am looking forward a lot to coming back to play alongside Lanzini, Payet, Noble, Cheikhou, Diaf and the whole squad! We are playing the football I like to play and I am very happy. It will be a pleasure to come back and join the guys, because they are playing the way I like to play.”
Song has yet to play for the Hammers this season after signing on a season-long loan, having arrived at the Boleyn Ground carrying a long-term injury.
The Cameroonian midfielder spent the whole of last season with the East London side, and although his form dropped in the second half of the campaign, he was arguably one of the best ever West Ham midfielders in the opening stages of the year.
Slaven Bilic went out over the summer to bring him back to the club, and has unfortunately not been able to use the midfielder. He would fit perfectly into their current style of football, as, according to Song, the Hammers are ‘playing the football I like to play’.
He will add a further creative spark to the side, whilst also bringing a more shielding presence into the middle of the park, and his defensive midfield position is arguably the only area in the squad which is lacking in depth.
Song is close to returning to full fitness and being ready to return to the field of play, and every single Hammers’ fan cannot wait to see Song once again pull on the Claret and Blue shirt.
