Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond is poised to join Sheffield United after the two sides finally agreed a loan deal, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
The two clubs have been locked in talks over a possible loan agreement for several weeks, but were unable to strike a deal.
However, a compromise has now been reached and Hammond is set to join United on a 93-day emergency loan.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man has made just one appearance, in the Capital One Cup win at Bury, and a number of Football League clubs had been monitoring his situation at the King Power Stadium now that the loan window is open.
Sheffield United had been at the front of the queue to sign Hammond, with Blades boss Nigel Adkins a big fan of the midfielder having worked with him during his time in charge of Southampton.
Hammond's arrival at Bramall Lane will come as a massive boost for Adkins as he looks to push his side into the automatic promotion spots in League One over the coming weeks.
