Rotherham United fans react to Steve Evans' appointment at Leeds United on Twitter

Elland Road East Stand

Leeds United appointed Steve Evans as their new manager yesterday.

Rotherham United supporters have largely backed Steve Evans to do a good job at Leeds United, after he was confirmed as the Whites' new manager yesterday.

Evans takes over from Uwe Rosler at Elland Road in a move which has frustrated Leeds supporters.

Massimo Cellino has operated with a trigger-happy approach to appointing managers since he arrived, and many Whites fans had hoped Rosler would be given a long-term chance to make an impression at the club.

However, after just 12 games, he was dispensed with, and Evans has been chosen to replace him.

The boisterous boss' arrival has not been universally welcomed, but supporters of his old club, Rotherham, still hold him in high regard.

Evans guided the Millers from League Two to the Championship, before departing the New York Stadium last month.

He had not been out of work long when he got the call from Cellino to takeover at Leeds, where he arguably faces the biggest challenge of his career to date.

It is a test which Rotherham fans feel he will rise to, with their reaction on social media site Twitter suggesting he could do a good job at their Yorkshire rivals.
