Taking a look at three players who should start for Tottenham Hotspur in Europe this week.
Tottenham Hotspur turn their attention from the Premier League to the Europa League later this week with a trip to Belgium to take on Anderlecht.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has some injuries to contend with but here we take a look at three players he should recall following the 0-0 draw with Liverpool.
Arguably Tottenham’s most important player so far this season, Eric Dier was suspended for the recent match against Liverpool; but he is back for Thursday’s encounter and Pochettino would be crazy not to select him.
Anderlecht are just a point off top spot in Belgium and they will be a tough proposition in their own backyard, meaning Dier will need to be at his best in the centre of the park, shielding Tottenham’s back-line and setting up attacking plays.
Speaking of Spurs' back-line, Welsh international Ben Davies deserves to come back into the starting line-up after Danny Rose’s disappointing performance at the weekend.
The battle for the left-back slot goes on but as things stand Davies is clearly in the lead and should feature whenever fit and available.
Kyle Walker may be the current number one right-back at White Hart Lane, but summer signing Kieran Trippier deserves to play this week.
The 25-year-old has started the first two matches in the Europa League against FK Qarabag and AS Monaco and having done nothing wrong he deserves to continue that streak.
