The defender has been out since the end of August with a knee problem.
In recent weeks Crystal Palace have been having to do without a regular defender with Joel Ward out of action. The English right-back has not featured for Palace since the 2-1 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - a game in which he himself found the back of the net.
He was then ruled out for four weeks after it was confirmed he had picked up a knee injury. The injury has kept him out of action for longer than expected but it would appear that Ward is now on the brink of his comeback.
The defender posted this message via his Instagram account yesterday evening:
Ward is of course a vital and key member of the Palace team. Last campaign he only missed one fixture through injury and it is likely he has struggled to watch his team-mates in action from the sidelines.
In his absence former Liverpool defender Martin Kelly, who has far more experience at sitting on the sidelines through injury, has been playing in his place and performing well but it is likely that fan favourite Ward is set to come back into action.
This weekends fixture against Leicester City may come too soon for the player but in a weeks time he might be able to make his comeback against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.
