Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to sign Ayoze Perez, report The Shields Gazette.
Spurs had an offer for Perez rejected in the summer, and the paper suggest the North London side intend to return in January.
It's safe to say the reports have not been received well among the Newcastle support, who regard Perez as integral to the team's success and destined for greatness.
It is no coincidence the links have re-emerged after Perez played a starring role in Newcastle's 6-2 demolition of Norwich City at the weekend.
It was the club's best display in over a year, and a demonstration of what Steve McClaren's side are capable of, and need to try to replicate.
Tottenham are a side like Newcastle who have not won the title in the Premier League era and are not in the Champions League, and losing the Spaniard to them would be tough to take.
Perez would though fit in well in Tottenham's system, and join a raft of talented young players should Newcastle sanction a deal.
The clear feeling among fans is that Newcastle must hang onto him and resist advances, even if Tottenham present a big money offer. Here is a look at the reaction to the reports on social media...
