Fulham and Leeds United will face each other in the Championship on Wednesday.

Fulham defender Jazz Richards has suggested to The Daily Star that Steve Evans’ arrival could boost Leeds United’s chances of a top-six finish in the Championship this season.

Evans has been appointed as the Whites’ head coach following the dismissal of Uwe Rosler, who was given the job only at the end of last season.

“It’s hard to say,” Wales international Richards told The Daily Star when asked if the managerial change could boost Leeds’ promotion hopes.

“I think it depends on the manager and what he’s going to come in and do and his style of play and whether it will work for them or not.

“I think Leeds are a big club and a good team so I can’t see why they can’t go on and do well but like I said there are positives and negatives.”

Leeds are in danger of getting sucked into a relegation battle, as they are just three points above the Championship bottom three.

Under Rosler, the Whites’ performances were poor and the results disappointing, and perhaps Evans’ arrival will see things improve.

Confidence is low among the players at the moment, and the new Leeds head coach will have to hit the ground running.

Leeds are in action on Wednesday evening when they take on Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in the Championship.

Fulham are 13th in the league table at the moment with 13 points from 11 matches.
