Carragher talks Tottenham's Liverpool nightmare

Jamie Carragher says Liverpool's pressing will have rattled Tottenham at the weekend.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has been talking up the impact Jurgen Klopp has had on Liverpool early on, and believes Tottenham's players will be feeling the effects of their encounter.

The two teams cancelled each other out with the scoreline 0-0 at White Hart Lane on Saturday, with the German boss avoiding defeat in his first game in the Premier League.

Carragher spoke highly of Liverpool's pressing game, and believes Tottenham Hotspur's players will not have enjoyed a single minute of the encounter, even going as far as to claim it would have been a 'nightmare' for them.

He told SkySports Monday Night Football: "Liverpool were very poor with the ball. But I think if you asked the Tottenham players the morning after did you enjoy playing in that game, I think it will have been a nightmare for them.

"Who Liverpool come up against now, they'll look at it and think we're in for a very tough game."

Tottenham are no slouches in this department themselves. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has the team well training in his style of pressing the opponent, even getting his players doing double training sessions.

The fitness of the Spurs players has been part of their success under Pochettino, with the side coming from behind to score late goals in games, with The Telegraph reporting earlier this season that the players ranked third in the league in terms of distance covered.

With Tottenham playing Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday and then Bournemouth away on Sunday, the fitness of the injury hit squad - losing Nacer Chadli in the clash with Liverpool - will be tested.
