Victor Valdes’ agent admits Man United January exit wish

The Spanish goalkeeper is set for an Old Trafford departure in the new year.

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes is set to leave the club in January according to his agent, who told Sport that he is looking for a new destination for his client.

The former Barcelona custodian moved to Old Trafford after a serious knee injury and has not been afforded a consistent chance in the first team, with compatriot David De Gea instead preferred between the sticks.

With Valdes frustrated at a lack of opportunities and seemingly falling afoul of Louis van Gaal, the veteran has been rotting away on the sidelines this term.

The addition of Sergio Romero in the summer has added further competition for the former Barcelona man, who has seemingly played his last game for the Red Devils.

Valdes’ agent Gines Carvajal has admitted that the goalkeeper is set for a move in the new year but will be selective over the potential destination.

"He will have a chance to move in January,” the agent told Sport.

“He needs a place that feels right for him.”

Valdes is a product of the fabled La Masia youth academy and won just about every possible honour available during a sparkling career with Barcelona.

With the Spaniard set to be available at a reduced fee, surely plenty of clubs will be interested in his services come January.
