The Belgium international started the Premier League game at White Hart Lane on Saturday and played for the entire 90 minutes.
“I only had a few training sessions so I didn’t feel that ready to be honest because I had some small things,” the 28-year-old told London24.com. “But the team is playing well and it is easier to adapt, to come in with a team like this with confidence and in these circumstances.”
Despite not being 100% fit, Dembele gave a very good account of himself against Liverpool, as the game in North London ended in a goalless draw.
The former Fulham star took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 91%, attempted five dribbles, won 75% of his tackles and 25% of his headers, and made five interceptions and three clearances.
Dembele is a very good and versatile player, and perhaps that is the main reason why he has not been able to play to his full potential for Tottenham.
The former AZ star has been deployed on the right of midfield, in a more central role and in an advanced position over the past three or so years.
