Tony Cascarino says Steve McClaren will now know Newcastle United's squad has goals in it

Newcastle United triumphed 6-2 over Norwich City in their latest outing.

Tony Cascarino has told Sky Sports News this morning that Steve McClaren will now know that his Newcastle United can score goals, after their 6-2 success against Norwich City on Sunday.

Newcastle were in brilliant goalscoring form, as they battered Norwich to claim their first Premier League win of the season.

And Cascarino says that the victory should provide McClaren will positivity over the attacking quality that he has in his squad.

"Their finishing was superb," the former Celtic and Chelsea striker said. "Steve McClaren will be delighted. What he knows now, is that he has goals in his team, with [Aleksandar] Mitrovic as well. And he has a lot of them. He'll be really pleased with that result. Getting six goals is a massive plus."

Newcastle have struggled for goals to date this season, and they had scored just six times prior to their win against Norwich.

However, they now have momentum on that side, and that could be crucial as McClaren looks to guide his team away from relegation trouble.

Newcastle are still in 18th position, but they are now within touching distance of safety - and their fixture list presents them with some winnable games in the near future.

The Magpies next take on Sunderland in a game that could be crucial to both teams, after their struggles so far this season.
