Could Jurgen Klopp make a star of the U17 World Cup one of his first Liverpool signings?
According to a report from La Tercera, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp sent scouts to watch the U17 World Cup clash between Croatia and Chile on Friday.
Given the importance of the competition and the fact that some of the world’s best teenage talent is on show, that is no surprise, but all eyes will be on what Klopp does in the transfer market in January and – more importantly – next summer, so could a young talent from Chile or Croatia be one of the first on his list?
Only time will tell, but Liverpool’s scouts are likely to have been impressed with goal-scorers Nikola Moro (who is also the captain of Croatia at this level) and Yerko Levia.
For now Klopp will have to make do with the players already at his disposal, and in truth that should be more than enough to ensure a top-four finish and potentially some silverware if all the Reds play to their full potential.
But a little further down the line, even with a wonderful set of academy products coming through – do not be surprised if Klopp brings one of the next batch of teenage sensations to Anfield if they suitably impress at the prestigious tournament and beyond.
