When asked for an update on his situation, Warburton said: “He’s still with us, and he’s doing well. So we will see how that progresses.”
Assulin arrived on loan at Rangers last week, and is hoping to impress Warburton and his fellow staff members. The manager has confirmed that he did enough to extend his trial spell into this week, and they will continue to assess his talents over the next few days.
The 24-year-old once-capped Israel international has been without a club since the beginning of this season, having left Spanish side Mallorca. He has never properly established himself at any team he has played with, but there are no doubts he is an extremely talented footballer.
Able to play in attacking midfield, or on either wing, Assulin will have his work cut out to impress Warburton considering the stylish and energetic brand of football his teams have to play.
There are no indications from Warburton that Rangers are ready to bring Assulin in on a permanent deal, but if his trial with the Gers goes well it is expected that the Israeli attacker will agree a switch to Ibrox.
