Burnley midfielder Joey Barton has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to former Newcastle United teammate Hatem Ben Arfa’s heroics on Sunday evening.
The 28-year-old winger was on target for Nice in Ligue 1, as they got the better of Rennes 4-1 away from home.
Ben Arfa scored his goal in the 53rd minute of the encounter at Roazhon Park, his fifth in three matches.
Barton, who played with the France international at Premier League outfit Newcastle during the 2010-11 season, was delighted to see him turn on the style.
Great to see the enigmatic Hatem Ben Arfa playing football again. Such an exciting player to watch when fully focused. #rennesvnice— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) October 18, 2015
Ben Arfa was on the books of Newcastle from 2011 to 2015 after initially joining the Magpies on loan from Marseille.
During his time in England, the Frenchman also had a loan spell at Hull City, but he did not entirely convince everyone.
Although talented and capable of showing moments of genius, Ben Arfa lacked consistency.
The Frenchman has been playing well for Nice this campaign, and has scored seven goals and created eight chances in 10 Ligue 1 appearances.
