Gary Gardner comments on Villa teammate Joe Cole's loan move to Coventry

One Aston Villa midfielder has been commenting on another.

Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner has taken to Twitter to have his say on teammate Joe Cole’s loan move to League One side Coventry City.

Cole has joined Coventry on a 35-day emergency loan and he is set to make his debut later this week against Rochdale.

Coventry are impressing in the third tier and are currently fifth in the league, just four points behind leaders Gillingham.

Cole has only featured 16 times since signing for Villa and only one of those appearances came this season – in the Capital One Cup clash against Notts County.

Aside from that the 33-year-old has only made the substitutes’ bench three times in the Premier League and a temporary switch will at least get him playing again.

It is certainly a move that his Villa teammate Gardner appears to approve of after he wrote the following message on social media on Monday afternoon: “Wish Coley all the best at Cov; what a player and great lad. All the best geezer; proper pro!”

It remains to be seen if Cole will get another chance to play for Villa under manager Tim Sherwood, but whatever the future brings at least he can get back out and do what he does best in the next few weeks and possibly beyond.
