Two of West Ham United's weekend substitutes will start for the under-21 side this evening.

West Ham United’s under-21 side take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening and the Hammers joint chairman David Gold has confirmed that at least two first-team stars will start for his side.

Writing on Twitter on Monday afternoon, Gold confirmed that summer signing Pedro Obiang and striker Enner Valencia will both play in what he called a “strong” side.

Obiang has made seven appearances for West Ham so far this season but he has been an unused substitute for the recent matches against Sunderland and Crystal Palace so tonight he will get some much-needed game-time.

As for Valencia, the Ecuador international was on the bench for the weekend trip to Palace after recovering from a hamstring injury that has robbed him of much of the campaign to date.

Both men are still likely to play a vital role for West Ham this season and beyond but given how well Slaven Bilic’s side has performed to date they will have to work very hard to get back into the starting line-up…starting this evening.
