The Frenchman is putting in some impressive defensive performances to match his already strong creative flair.
When Crystal Palace moved to secure Yohan Cabaye from PSG, it was widely regarded as one of the best signings of the summer.
Eagles fans were particularly keen to see the creative power he would bring to their midfield, which had been lacking a truly creative midfielder for some time.
And while the Frenchman has added just what Pardew would have wanted with impressive passing and general creative prowess, he has also surprisingly impressed in the defensive side of his game as well.
Currently Cabaye has made more tackles than any other Premier League player after nine games, having made 33 so far, averaging just over 3.5 per game.
He is also top of another key defensive statistic, as he has made more interceptions than any other Premier League player so far with 34 in total, averaging 3.7 per game.
Those are impressive stats from Cabaye, who Crystal Palace fans wouldn’t have been expecting to be so good defensively given how well regarded his attacking prowess is.
Alan Pardew will now be hoping he can start dominating the offensive statistics as well as they look to bounce back from the weekend loss to West Ham.
