Carlos Carvalhal has said at his press conference today that Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sam Hutchinson has had a terrific season so far.
Hutchinson has become a key part of Wednesday's line-up since the opening of the campaign, with his discipline allowing the side's more attacking players to break forward.
The former Chelsea man may not steal too many headlines, but Carvalhal believes that he deserves a lot of credit for the standard of his performances.
CC: I'm very happy with Sam Hutchinson, he is having a fantastic season and gives a lot of energy to the team #swfcLIVE— Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) October 19, 2015
With Wednesday possessing so much attacking talent, Hutchinson plays a key role, as he is their only truly defensive-minded midfielder.
The 26-year-old acts as a shield for the side's defence, and he allows their creative players more freedom to express themselves.
In Wednesday's latest match against Hull City Hutchinson was excellent, but he was slightly lucky to stay on the pitch.
The central-midfielder lunged into a tackle on Abel Hernandez, but only picked up a yellow card, and Carvalhal will be pleased that he avoided the suspension, as he is so integral to his team.
