The Dutchman scored his second goal for the club yesterday.
Southampton and Leicester City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw yesterday at St Mary's. Southampton led the game 2-0 thanks to goals from their central defensive partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Jose Fonte.
In the end The Saints would have been gutted to have thrown away the win. They conceded two late goals from Leicester's man of the moment Jamie Vardy and therefore had to settle for a share of the spoils.
However it was a positive game for recent new signing Van Dijk. The Dutchman was recently acquired from Scottish champions Celtic and the Dutchman has certainly highlighted his danger in the opposing box.
Yesterday's strike was his second since signing from The Bhoys and it got a congratulations from his team-mate Cuco Martina on Twitter.
The defender, who arrived at Southampton from FC Twente this summer, tweeted this message to his team-mate:
Happy for this man @VirgilvDijk that he scored. Still disappointed in the result. Next week big game vs Liverpool! pic.twitter.com/3dgxzW3Wn1

Martina, who has not had as impressive a start to his Southampton career as his team-mate, will now hope to start performing like his countryman.
