West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been quoted as saying on the club’s official Twitter page that he does not have a specific target in mind for the season.
Bilic made the comments following West Ham’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace away from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The win at Selhurst Park means that the Hammers are now fourth in the league table with 17 points from nine matches, just four points behind leaders Manchester City.
BILIC: "To be fair we don't have expectations in terms of targets other than to stay in the league. It's not May, but October"— West Ham United FC (@whufc_official) October 17, 2015
BILIC: "Our target is to play good football and be solid in defence, keep the ball better and create more chances and collect more points"— West Ham United FC (@whufc_official) October 17, 2015
While Bilic may be playing down expectations, West Ham fans will certainly hope for a very successful season and at least a top-eight finish.
Could the Hammers finish higher in the Premier League table this campaign, perhaps in a Europa League spot? Why not.
Given the start the London outfit have made, they must be considered to be in the running for a top-six finish in the Premier League.
West Ham’s next game is against Chelsea at the Boleyn Ground in the league next weekend.
