The Tottenham Hotspur loanee played a vital role for Rangers this weekend.

Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn has been speaking to the club’s official website after his last-gasp goal gave his side a 2-1 victory against Queen of the South on Saturday.

For a long time it looked as though the two sides would share a point apiece after Jason Holt had cancelled out Derek Lyle’s opener, but Waghorn had other ideas and he ultimately got on the end of a cross from Nathan Oduwa who is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Waghorn has now scored 15 goals in 15 games for Rangers this season and his side now lead the Scottish Championship by nine points with just 10 matches played.

As impressive as Waghorn has been for Rangers so far this season, young Tottenham winger Oduwa has also played a significant role, providing four assists to date and looking a consistent threat for his temporary side.

“I just thought I would get through to the final whistle and see what happens,” Waghorn told rangers.co.uk. “So it was pleasing to eventually get on the end of Nathan’s cross and get the win.”

Oduwa is one of many Tottenham academy prospects that looks destined for a bright future in the game, and if his loan spell continues as it has started his manager Mauricio Pochettino may have a big decision to make as early as next season.
