The Tottenham Hotspur boss was pleased with certain elements of his side's play against Liverpool.
Tottenham had their chances to seal all three points but Liverpool were resilient in what was Jurgen Klopp’s first match in charge and a point apiece was a fair result all things considered.
While Pochettino will no doubt have been disappointed not to have taken all three points in the first match after the international break, he still found plenty of positives in his team’s performance.
“We played with a high tempo,” the Spurs boss said. “I’m pleased with the players’ effort and performance.”
That bodes well for the future with only a lack of good fortune, and some fine defensive work from Liverpool, ensuring the game remained goalless.
Tottenham are currently seventh in the Premier League while Liverpool are 10th and next up for both sides are Europa League games against Rubin Kazan and Anderlecht respectively.
Tottenham’s summer signings have bedded in well but there is still a worry regarding Harry Kane’s lack of goals and the England international really needs to go on a scoring run sooner rather than later, especially with Heung-Min Son currently side-lined through injury.
