Patrick Kluivert sends message to Georginio Wijnaldum on Twitter, Newcastle star responds

The former Newcastle United striker was full of praise for the Magpies star, while taking a dig at the rest of the Netherlands squad.

Patrick Kluivert was delighted to see fellow Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum net four times for Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, sending him a message of congratulations on Sunday evening.

Newcastle thrashed Norwich City 6-2 and two thirds of their goals came from 24-year-old Wijnaldum.

Kluivert, of course, is a former Magpie himself - and the ex-striker sent a message to the hero of the moment on Twitter.

In so doing, he also took a dig at the rest of the Netherlands squad, who are currently far from reaching the heights of the Newcastle man. The Dutch failed to qualify for Euro 2016 but at least Wijnaldum has bounced back at club level.

Wijnaldum was the hero for Newcastle against Norwich, then, but what fans would really love is a hero against Sunderland.

During the last few Tyne-Wear derbies, Sunderland have had many of their own. Jermain Defoe came up trumps last time with a wonder volley Black Cats supporters won't forget in a hurry.

But a player like Wijnaldum can finally give Newcastle the requisite quality to break their recent downward trend against their fierce rivals.

Can the 24-year-old reproduce his heroics in this Sunday's derby?
