Norwich fans appear to feel strongly about the 31-year-old defender after their 6-2 loss at Newcastle.
After Bournemouth's thrashing at Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, the pundits on Match of the Day discussed whether Eddie Howe was naive not to adapt his usually expansive approach.
He was. His side lost 5-1.
On Sunday afternoon, it was Norwich City's turn. Alex Neil could have been forgiven for thinking he could take the game to a struggling Newcastle United team who sat bottom of the Premier League table.
In the end, though, the exact same outcome unfolded (only it was 6-2 not 5-1). Norwich were too open and Newcastle took full advantage.
There were poor defensive performances throughout. But many of the Canaries faithful were particularly unhappy with Steven Whittaker. Skipper Russell Martin took plenty of flak, so too Sebastien Bassong. But nowhere near as much as Whittaker.
Indeed, based on the 31-year-old's performances so far this season, Norwich fans are convinced the defender needs to be dropped at Carrow Road. He certainly didn't cope very well with the Newcastle front line...
Here's a selection of what Norwich supporters were saying about Whittaker on Twitter; should Neil drop him?
Shocking day, Whittaker was the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. Wijnaldum was class though. #ncfc— Nathan Wallace (@kingnathdog) October 18, 2015
Defensively a disgrace. Only Olsson can hold his head high. Martin and Whittaker not Prem quality, never will be. #ncfc— Jim Pepper (@PepperJ17) October 18, 2015
