The Belgian international impressed for Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Both players started the match against Liverpool on Saturday and while they could not inspire Mauricio Pochettino’s side to victory they both impressed, especially the Belgian international.
Dembele often divides opinion among Tottenham fans but he was unquestionably the man-of-the-match at White Hart Lane this weekend and young Alli would do well to learn from the 28-year-old when he is in this kind of form.
Speaking to tottenhamhotspur.com after the match, Dembele said of his younger teammate, “Dele is in good form, he’s playing really well and it’s enjoyable to play next to him as well.”
The older Tottenham man then went on to speak about the competition for places in Pochettino’s midfield right now, with the likes of Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Eric Dier also competing for a starting spot when fit and available.
“Of course but we want to be up there with the top teams so I think we need that and everyone has to earn their position,” the Tottenham man added.
Prior to Saturday Dembele had only played five matches for Tottenham this season and had only completed one full 90-minute outing, but after his latest showing expect him to be one of the first names on the team-sheet in the weeks ahead.
