The Romanian international would be a good bargain buy.
Much has been made recently of Celtic's striking department. The club currently only have Leigh Griffiths, Nadir Ciftci and Anthony Stokes as recognised out and out striking options.
It was a problem that Celtic recently tried to address. Carlton Cole has trained with the club but a deal to sign the former West Ham striker has become protracted and looks now to be unlikely.
But another free agent striker has just become available from Turkish football that Celtic should certainly consider after Konyaspor released Romanian international striker Ciprian Marica.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk, Stuttgart and Schalke striker has left the club by mutual consent in order to find another club after falling down the pecking order in Turkey.
Marica is a creative striker who had Arsenal interested after his release from Schalke in 2013. He has a good goalscoring record in the German Bundesliga and has also scored 25 goals in 70 appearances for his country.
It is believed that the attacker is wanted by his former club Dinamo Bucharest but should Celtic make a move?
There are not many strikers available on a free transfer at the moment that could cut it at Celtic Park - Marica might be the only one.
It is certainly an avenue they should consider.
