Andy Cole reacts on Twitter to Newcastle's defending, Higginbotham slams Sissoko

The former Newcastle United striker wasn't impressed with their defending, while the pundit wasn't impressed with the midfielder.

Former Newcastle striker Andrew Cole was far from impressed by his ex-club's standard of defending at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, there were five goals in the first half alone on Tyneside, as Newcastle went into the break leading Norwich City 3-2.

Georginio Wijnaldum netted twice, with Ayoze Perez adding a third for the Magpies. And yet Norwich hit back with two goals of their own before half-time.

Naturally, Cole was left disappointed by the defending of both teams on Twitter...

Meanwhile, former centre-back and pundit Danny Higginbotham singled out Moussa Sissoko for his poor contribution defensively.

Sissoko was superb going forward against Norwich, creating two goals in the first half - but was appalling tracking back.

The 26-year-old didn't bother running with his man for both of the Canaries' first-half efforts and Higginbotham didn't hold back in his assessment of the Frenchman, suggesting Daryl Janmaat should tell him what's what.

Sissoko certainly looked wide awake in attack against Norwich - a far cry from some of his recent poor form. As stated, though, he was very poor defensively. So were Newcastle as a whole: does Steve McClaren only work on attacking crosses in training!?
