The Hammers boss was full of praise for the duo after the impressive win at Selhurst Park.
The Hammers were once again in fine form on the road this season, as they ran out 3-1 winners at Selhurst Park in another impressive performance similar in quality to previous victories over Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester city.
One player who was in fine form in the game was summer signing Manuel Lanzini, who managed to bag an assist and a goal against the Eagles, but Bilic admits he wasn’t expecting him to be this good so soon.
“He is a player, to be fair. I didn’t expect him to be that good straight away,” he told whufc.com.
“He surprised me because he clicked straight away. His ability was there all the time and it shows you that good players are simply good players. They pull the shirt on and if they are surrounded by good players and good men in the team, they deliver.”
Payet finish like a Demba Ba penalty
Another player who enjoyed a solid afternoon for the Hammers was midfielder Dimitri Payet, who finished the game off with a delicate chip over Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey.
The Frenchman has quickly made himself a key player in Bilic’s side, with a strong start to the season having seen him rack up both goals and assists and demonstrate why the east London outfit paid big money for him over the summer.
His goal was yet another demonstration of the quality he possesses, but Bilic wasn’t surprised, saying he does that kind of thing in training all the time, likening his style to that of former West Ham forward Demba Ba.
“That’s him, to be fair,” he added.
“We see it every day in training and he does it so easily, like Demba Ba taking a penalty. He makes it look so easy!”
