Rolando Aarons, Jason Roberts and Danny Murphy all rave about Mousa Dembele

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder earned praise from the Newcastle winger and pundits for his performance against Liverpool during Saturday's early kick-off.

Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons and BBC pundit Jason Roberts were impressed with Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele's performance against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed, the pair took to Twitter to heap praise on the 28-year-old for his display against the Reds.

But the Belgian has recently been linked with a Tottenham exit by Tuttosport.

As such, there was pressure on Dembele to prove his worth against Liverpool. Judging by the reaction of onlookers, however, the midfielder has done just that.

Newcastle's Aarons, for one, feels the playmaker is underrated...

As well as the Newcastle winger, though, BBC pundit Roberts tweeted to similar effect. He feels the Tottenham midfielder plays good football:

Meanwhile, another BBC pundit gave his verdict on the Belgian in slightly more than 140 characters, with ex-Liverpool man Danny Murphy suggesting he was Spurs' best player against Liverpool:

"This is the Mousa Dembele I know and love. He hasn't produced this form often enough in a Tottenham shirt but he's been far and away their best player today."

It looks like Dembele has taken his chance, then, but will it be enough wow Mauricio Pochettino into selecting him once all of his first-choice midfielders are back and available for selection?

Eric Dier, Ryan Mason, Dele Alli and Nabil Bentaleb will be providing the competition.
