Leeds fans are certain that Sam Byram should have played today.
Leeds United's poor run of form continued today as they were defeated by the Championship's leaders Brighton and Hove Albion at Elland Road - yet another home defeat for the club.
The Whites are on a terrible run of form at the moment in home fixtures and now have beaten their club record for games at home without a win.
After the game there has been some fairly harsh, but fair, criticism from the typically outspoken Leeds faithful who are furious with the current run of form.
One area of contention from today's fixture revolved around the selection of Scott Wootton.
The former Manchester United defender is certainly not a fan favourite at Elland Road. With Charlie Taylor falling ill overnight Leeds switched Gaetano Berardi from right-back to left-back and brought in Wootton from the cold to play at right-back.
That caused disarray among Leeds fans who wanted Sam Byram brought in instead. He has been out of the side in recent weeks after a period of poor form playing on the right-wing.
He has also been the centre of a contract storm, which appears to have seen him fall foul of chairman Massimo Cellino and judging by many a comment on Twitter Leeds fans suspect his absence from the starting XI had more to do with the Italian than the German manager.
@WYSdaily once you've asked Uwe to justify the selection of Wootton, could you maybe have him try to convince us the Moon is made of cheese?— Adam J (@Ken_DeMange) October 17, 2015
Every time I see Wootton play, he reminds me of that 5-a-side player, who you had to play, simply because he turned up— We Are Leeds (@weareleeds_) October 17, 2015
Wootton didn't even bother trying. Fly in, try a block, grab his gentlemans sausage, do SOMETHING! #lufc— Simon O'Rourke (@simon_orourke) October 17, 2015
Wootton aside, that's still a pretty handy XI... much better than any we put out last year. It's *how* we play, imo, not who plays. #lufc— EastStandÜpper (@EastStandUpper) October 17, 2015
People actually think Wootton over Byram is a choice made by Rosler, not by the impulsive nutjob known to make ridiculous decisions— Dan (@lufc_dan) October 17, 2015
Wootton playing over Byram today is the beginning of the end for him, Cellino's efforts to ruin his Leeds career all but complete #lufc— RightInTheGaryKellys (@RITGK) October 17, 2015
Wootton over Byram I want to die— Eamo (@EamoV1) October 17, 2015
Can't help but feel like Wootton over Byram is some form of pathetic punishment from our bellend overlord— Dan (@lufc_dan) October 17, 2015
