Keith Gillespie has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren’s comments in a press conference on Thursday.
McClaren rued the injury to goalkeeper Tim Krul which will keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the season.
“He's a vital player, very important, and he'd get us 18 or 20 points a season with the way he plays,” Skysports.com quotes the former Nottingham Forest boss as saying.
Former Newcastle winger Gillespie has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to McClaren’s comments.
Yesterday's press conference by McClaren was worrying. His comments on not looking at the table, Krul and pre season football were strange!— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) October 16, 2015
The 2nd half of last season Newcastle got 13 pts. This season its 3 from 8. How is Krul valued at 18 to 20 pts a season? Doesn't make sense— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) October 16, 2015
Also its not pre season continued its a roll over of form from last year! As for not looking at the table!! Give me a break!— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) October 16, 2015
I always rated Alan Pardew so if you looked at results since the ongoing form doesn't look good! It's going to be a battle to stay up!— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) October 16, 2015
Newcastle are still searching for their first win of the season, having made a terrible start to the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.
The Magpies are at the foot of the table at the moment with just three points from eight matches.
Newcastle will take on Norwich City at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday and will be determined to pick up all three points.
