Liverpool played out a goalless draw with Spurs away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
It was new manager Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge of the Reds, and Liverpool great Aldridge was impressed with the performance of the team against Tottenham.
Good start!some direction shown, always going to struggle in front of goal with 3 strikers out,and firmino also.— John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) October 17, 2015
Former Liverpool defender Jim Beglin was also pleased with the display and posted the following message on Twitter:
With little preparation time and a striker shortage, Jurgen Klopp got a high energy and solid defensive display. A very satisfactory opener.— Jim Beglin (@jimbeglin) October 17, 2015
Over the course of the 90 minutes at White Hart Lane, Liverpool had 52% of the possession, took 12 shots of which just three were on target, and earned six corners.
The Reds were impressive in the opening 10 or 15 minutes, as they pressed high and put the Tottenham defence under pressure.
Liverpool will now have to build on the performance and the final result against Tottenham.
There is a lot of work to be done, but Klopp will be pleased with the effort of his players and with the point they picked up at White Hart Lane.
